How it works
The design is printed onto transfer paper with sublimation inks, then heat-pressed onto the fabric. The heat turns the ink into a gas that bonds with polyester fibres, so the print has no surface feel and does not crack or peel.
Fabric requirement
Sublimation can only be printed on 100% polyester or high-polyester-content fabrics. It does not work on cotton or other natural fibres, and gives the brightest results on white or light-coloured grounds.
Typical uses
Activewear, sportswear, swimwear and all-over prints on polyester garments.
Production considerations
Polyester content, base colour, colour accuracy, pattern placement across seams and heat sensitivity of the fabric should be confirmed.
Quality starts before production
Relevant fabrics, trims, artwork, print or embroidery requirements and other value-added processes are reviewed against approved product requirements before bulk manufacturing begins.
